Sport Competitions

At Old Bexley we teach the children to appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.  Alongside our broad and balanced PE Curriculum, children have access to a variety of sports and after school clubs.

We employ Specialist PE Teachers, Coaches and Play Specialists to ensure children are achieving and gaining an understanding of the importance of team work and co-operation.

We also create links and good relationships with local Secondary schools and Community clubs providing additional opportunities to support children's growth in sport.

These cross curricular activities have a positive influence on academic achievement, self esteem and well being.

School Games Mark Award

We are very proud to have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark Award for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in the 2017/18 academic school year.  This is the second year running we have achieved Gold status.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme, launched in 2012, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.  Old Bexley is extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including the volunteers and officials who make our competitions possible.

This Academic Year's Results:

  • In the last sports competition of the academic year, the mixed cricket team represented Bexley in the County Kwik Cricket Finals in Canterbury.  The squad of 12, took on the county's finest and topped their group by winning all 3 games meaning they qualified for the quarter finals.  A win then progressed them to the semi-final where unfortunately they lost by 1 run.  The team should be very proud of their achievement as they were crowned 4th in the county.  Congratulations go to Freya, Freddie, Alfie, Jude, Dan, Phoenix, Tim, Niall, Albert, Lucas, Katie and Sydney.

  • Following their success at the Bexley Tri-Golf tournament, the year 4 team represented Bexley Borough at the London School Games on 4 July at Crystal Palace.  The standard was extremely high and the Old Bexley pupils played superbly as a team, demonstrating great chipping and putting skills. The team finished 8th in London and should be congratulated.  Well done to George, Conor, Leo, Patrick, Will, Arzu, Jessica, Lily, Eliza and Josie.
